Was ausschließlich im Kopf vor sich geht, zählt niemals als kognitiver Prozess. Es gilt nur als Mitwirkendes an einem kognitiven Prozess, der als Beziehung zwischen dem System und seiner Umgebung besteht. Erkenntnis ist kein Ereignis, das innerhalb des Systems stattfindet. Es ist der relationale Prozess des Sinn-Machens, der zwischen dem System und seiner Umgebung stattfindet.
