Was ein Individuum wahrzunehmen in der Lage ist und wie es wahrnimmt ist durch seine sensorische Ausstattung, Einstellung und Stimmung bedingt. Es ist das Ergebnis eines evolutionären und historischen Prozesses, der Strukturen hervorgebracht hat , die sich in dem jeweiligen Biotop und unter den jeweiligen Bedingungen bewährt haben. Dies macht es zwar wahrscheinlich, dass sich dabei Welterfassungs-systeme herausgebildet haben, die die Vorgänge in der Welt möglichst genau zu erfassen erlauben, es ist jedoch keine Garantie dafür, dass die Systeme daraufhin optimiert wurden, eine objektive Beurteilung der Welt zu liefern.

What an individual is able to perceive and how it perceives is determined by its sensory equipment, attitude and mood. It is the result of an evolutionary and historical process that has produced structures that have proven themselves in the respective biotope and under the respective conditions. This makes it likely that sytems of understanding the world have developed that can capture the processes in the world as accurately as possible; it is however no guarantee that the systems have been optimized to provide an objective assessment of the world.
